On 26 January 2024, the International Court of Justice retained, in its proceedings initiated by South Africa, point no. 85, which had been ‘neglected’, with great rhetorical flourish, by all those who, out of self-interest, campaigned for an immediate ceasefire:
ICJ 26.01.2024 No. 85. The Court considers it necessary to emphasise that all the parties involved in the conflict in the Gaza Strip are bound by international humanitarian law. It is deeply concerned at the fate of the hostages abducted during the attack on Israel on 7 October 2023 and held since then by Hamas and other armed groups, and calls for their immediate and unconditional release.
The fact that the American and French Presidents, in view of their electoral situation and the elections, are treating the issue of the hostages’ release as secondary shows that there are double standards when it comes to the application of Western values, starting with the equal human dignity of women and men.
When pregnancy is the result of a crime committed by a terrorist who has previously murdered members of his family and brutally raped them, the emotional consequences for the women concerned are unimaginable and leave lasting psychological scars.
According to sources quoted by the MAARIV newspaper, in-depth discussions have been held in hospitals throughout the country on preparing for the return of Israeli hostages who have been sexually assaulted by Hamas terrorists and who are at various stages of pregnancy. Doctors, psychologists, rabbis… there is no relevant professional group in Israel that excludes itself from the search for solutions and counselling strategies.
Israeli law permits termination of pregnancy, while giving women the autonomy to decide for themselves how they wish to proceed. However, the State is now faced with the enormous task of dealing with the persistent trauma that will affect the victims and their families for the rest of their lives.
The films made by Hamas terrorists themselves of their attacks, their murders of civilians and their rapes of women, sometimes in front of their families, were deliberate acts of show of force. The display of their victims as booty was also a deliberate act of show of force. The Victims are transformed into Objects.
On 07 October 2024, twelve months had passed since the massacre by Hamas terrorists had taken place. Among the 101 hostages still held by Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip, despite the verdict of the International Court of Justice, are still six young women.
Outside Israel and the Jewish communities of Europe, Canada and the United States, these crimes have not attracted the attention of the famous fighters of the MeToo movement. They have not spoken out, nor have the anti-abortion movements ProLife or the Catholic Church, whose shared communication possibilities or philosophical, theological, ethical and gynaecological skills cannot be denied or questioned.
Reports dating from 7 October indicate that the terrorists committed heinous rapes, which is confirmed by the testimonies of some of the returned hostages, who indicate that the women were subjected to sexual harassment, including negligent rape, during their captivity.
This has led some gynaecologists to estimate, during internal discussions in recent weeks, that some of the prisoners had been raped and had been pregnant for several weeks. – Pregnancies occurring on 07 October 2023 or in the following week naturally end around 07 July 2024.
Here again, we hear nothing from the famous fighters of the MeToo movement, such as Michelle Obama or Angelina Jolie or the human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, who advised South Africa in its complaint against Israel, nor from the ProLife movements of those opposed to abortion or from the Catholic Church in the spirit of the encyclical ‘Amoris Laetitia’. – The silence of shepherds and shepherdesses prevails.
Even on the part of pro-abortion advocates who claim to defend women’s dignity and right to self-determination, we do not hear or read any public and firmly expressed demands for women’s liberation. –
Reminder: ICJ 26.01.2024 No.
One cannot help but think that the Israeli women detained are left alone to face the question and the undeniable consequences of abortion, but also the consequences of an imposed pregnancy.
Who also cares about the dilemma of unwilling mothers: children born of rape are genetically their own children, but at the same time also the children of the murderer in the family or the step-husband of the child’s mother.
Doctors are preparing for this scenario
Teams of gynaecologists in medical centres across the country have already appointed specialists to prepare for such a catastrophic scenario. The doctors stressed that the medical aspect is based on established protocols for terminating pregnancies. However, Israel must now deal with the most difficult element: the serious psychological repercussions on a captured woman who has become pregnant.
‘The human brain finds it difficult to grasp the situation of a captured woman who has to cope not only with her pregnancy but also with the fact that she was conceived as a result of a brutal rape by a murderous terrorist’, said Professor Tal Biron- Shental, Chairwoman and Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba.
‘Performing a termination of pregnancy is a procedure that we are all familiar with and have mastered. But the greatest challenge now facing the state is the terrible and discouraging psychological trauma. A pregnant woman who feels the movements of the foetus and whose belly is visibly growing is naturally attached to the foetus.
But if the pregnancy is the result of a terrorist who has previously murdered her loved ones and brutally raped her, the emotional consequences are unimaginable. They will leave the woman and her family with lasting psychological scars for years to come’.
Silence makes the situation worse
Another scenario is becoming increasingly possible:
The sadistic barbarity of Hamas terrorists, carried out with glee, is sufficiently well known thanks to their own film documentation. – Denial by the European or American media is irrelevant to the documented facts that are relevant to history and the courts.
To repeat, without any independent verification, the figures given by the same aggressor terrorist group is an insult to the victims of Hamas’s bloodthirsty terrorism. To propagate these figures on the number of civilian victims in the Israeli response, without differentiating between terrorist combatants, non-combatants, adult terrorist combatants and minor terrorist combatants (as in the Hitler Youth Division after the Allied landings in Normandy) by the Vatican and the European chancelleries and presidential palaces is an insult to the victims of the bloody terrorism of Hamas.
Due to the total absence of the International Red Cross and following the infiltration and instrumentalisation of UNRWA by Hamas, there have been no visits to the hostages, no medical care and no examinations for nine months. No international organisation, not even the Catholic Church in Gaza, in the West Bank, has tried to find out how many hostages are still alive and what their state of health is.
On 07 October 2024, twelve months after the hostage-takings and after the first rapes, a new question arose: When the children are born, will they be able to stay with their mothers? Or will they be separated from their mothers? These are the real problems and questions to which we see no answers or even the beginnings of reflection from those who judge mothers and doctors indiscriminately. It’s a silence that contrasts with the comments on the Olympic Games, which took centre stage noisily after the opening of the Games. https://europa-information.eu/la-derniere-cene-de-charlie-hebdo/
Since Russia abducted 20,000 children from eastern Ukraine from 2022 onwards, dispersed them to Russia and arranged for them to be adopted by Russian parents, this question has to be asked.- TH
